ABOUT
Hi, I'm Chelsey!
Hydrologist and former EPA fellow with over ten years of leadership and writing experience.
Currently, the founder and director of Aqua Analytica Press* - a non-profit water research journal that hopes to incorporate and publicize all types of hydrological scholarship (e.g., ocean and freshwater), as well as incorporate an educational and advocacy platform for the substance covering 71% of our Earth.

U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
Air Emissions Modeling & Research Support
At the EPA, I was honored to be part of a small scientific team, who was spearheading and continuing the National Air Emissions Monitoring Study (NAEMS) – a multi-billion-dollar project created in 2005 to characterize air emissions from various animal feeding operations (AFOs), across the United States. The NAEMS, at its core, was born to coincide with an Air Compliance Agreement (70 FR 4958) between the EPA and agricultural communities.
Essentially, in a combined effort to improve air quality, farm management and Agency transparency – our development of emission estimation methodologies (EEMs) was a predictive tool for farmers that was easy to use and understand.
Finding a career is more than the cultivation of one’s bank account or the feats displayed on one's resume. Rather, it's about the exploration of one's individual joys – through careful erudition and intense discernment.
I think a career must be the beautiful amalgamation of all one is and hopes to be, but getting to this point is difficult; it's the grueling part of life. It's the choices we make and employment we seek to fill the dashes on our tombstones.
Obviously, it's much easier to craft one's resume than one's meandering spirit, but I think we should never forget to equally cultivate both.
Ultimately, I mean, living deeply and fearlessly – as Henry David Thoreau once championed, "to face the marrow of life and put to rout all that is not life, before the end." If not, one may discover "she never TRULY lived" – "wasting her shot."
Life is the shot. Will you take it?
Inspired by Anna Quindlen, Henry David Thoreau, and Lin-Manuel Miranda

Completed Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) training in forestry and aquatic care and gained extensive hands-on biological field experience via ecological modulesU.S. Dept. of State's Diplomacy Lab
Spring 2016
Attended Aquatic Conservation: Diplomacy Lab class, every Tuesday evening (3 hrs.)

Fall 2015
In fall semester 2015, I was asked by Dr. Serianni to collaborate with Notre Dame Physics professors, Dr. Steven Ruggiero, Dr. Carol Tanner and doctoral student, Alison Deatsch.
Tested the spectral presence of harmful bacteria in situ.
By using Light Transmission Spectroscopy (LTS©) and Coliscan Easygel®, identified Escherichia coli in lake bodies (i.e., Lake Papakeechie).

Worked closely with leadership and provided administrative and logistical support to the Executive Director, Felipe WitchgerUndergraduate Research: Lake Papakeechie
Summer 2014-2015
For three years, I worked in the lab of Dr. Anthony Serianni in the Dept. of Biochemistry.
Measured biological and chemical parameters of Lake Papakeechie in Syracuse, IN (i.e.., concentrations of phosphate, nitrate, dissolved oxygen and E. coli colonies).
In spring semester 2016, I wrote a critical literature review on the systemic herbicide ingredient, Fluridone, and the positive and negative impacts it has on lacustrine environments (awaiting publication). The Observer: News-writer
